About Tex

About Tex Norwood

A plumeria grower, educator and photographer focused on helping growers understand the plant in front of them.

Background

Growing, observing and teaching plumeria for decades.

For more than 30 years, I have grown plumeria in different climates, including Texas and South Florida.

Since joining Florida Colors Nursery in 2012, I have had the opportunity to grow, observe, propagate, fertilize, graft, photograph and evaluate thousands of plumeria plants under real nursery conditions.

That experience shapes how I teach. I want growers to move beyond guesswork and understand how plumeria actually grow by phase, by condition, by climate and by plant response.

What guides the work

Experience translated into practical systems.

Teach the why

Good care becomes easier when growers understand timing, climate, roots, leaves, stems and the plant’s warning signs.

Show the evidence

Photography records bloom traits, plant structure, seasonal changes and symptoms that help growers learn visually.

Keep paths clear

Courses, care articles, nursery resources, database records and photography each support a different part of the learning journey.

Experience and expertise

Plumeria guidance grounded in observation.

Tex Norwood’s plumeria work is shaped by decades of growing in different climates, including Texas and South Florida, and by practical nursery experience at Florida Colors Nursery since 2012.

That background matters because plumeria care changes with climate, season, root condition, heat, moisture, light and plant maturity. Tex’s teaching focuses on helping growers read the plant in front of them, understand what stage it is in, and choose the next care step with confidence.

Grower

Hands-on experience with propagation, grafting, fertilizing, seasonal care and real nursery production conditions.

Educator

Courses and care resources designed to make plumeria growing more understandable and repeatable.

Photographer

Flower photographs that document bloom traits, cultivar identity, color, form and visual differences.
